Create Modern And Functional Baby Nurseries To Use For YearsMany parents have discovered the economical value of buying convertible baby cribs and other convertible nursery furniture that can serve as elegant nursery furniture for your new baby and later be converted into stunning bedroom furniture as they grow. This is a fantastic way to get the modern, chic, high quality pieces that you want for your baby’s nursery while knowing that you are getting long term use and keeping future costs down to a minimum. Convertible cribs & changing tables last as your baby growsThis is the route that I took in decorating my daughter’s nursery 5 years ago and the furniture has held up beautifully. The convertible crib is now her full sized “big girl” bed and the convertible changing table is now her dresser. The only slightly large purchase that I’ve had to make since then was the new mattress set for when I converted the crib, but I had planned on that already, so it wasn’t a big deal at all. I also bought a chest of drawers to match when putting the new baby nursery together so she has all of the major pieces of furniture that she needs for years to come already and I really don’t have to spend any more unless I just want to!
Find surprising ways to add extra savingsAnother way that I saved big time and learned more about the value of convertible nursery furniture happened by pure accident. When I bought the convertible changing table, a matching hutch was also available but I opted not to buy it. I thought that I would just buy it after we changed the changing table into the dresser, rather than store the hutch until then. In the mean time, I went to a furniture store closeout sale and found several great hutches that had been left over in pretty much the same manner or where very slightly mismatched. I found one that matched my daughters changing table/dresser exactly for only $25! It was surprising how easy it was to add small pieces that were such a great match, not to mention fantastic finds. Begin with simple basics that are easy to coordinate withAnother idea to start with a nursery that will easily grow as your baby grows is in the decorating. It is very tempting to use pink paint for baby girls and blue paint for baby boy’s nurseries, but what if your child wants something totally different in a few years? When you begin converting the crib into a big boy or big girl bed, you can keep your child excited and involved by letting them pick out the new bedding and curtains and some accessories, but there’s no telling what they may pick. Unless you plan on repainting at that point anyway, a simpler step is to start with a wall paint color that has more versatility. For example, if you are planning on decorating a nursery in pink for your baby girl, try a soft cream color or maybe a shade of brown on the walls and then use pink for all of your baby bedding and other accessories. Also, with your room accents done in bright colors they will often cast a hue onto the light colored walls around them. The most important part is to have fun!Enjoy putting together a chic and beautiful room for your baby and keep in mind that they will be playing, learning and laughing in this room for years to come. The most important thing to remember when creating a baby nursery that will last and grow with your child is to have fun and use your personality, and later your child’s personality for inspiration! |
